Mixed Media Altered Diary

Greetings My Dear Friends!

My First Blog Post on mixed media art on diary cover. 

Ordered a 2019 diary from Flipkart, which had a lovely motivational quote over it saying "If you believe in yourself anything is Possible". This quote touched my heart and without wasting anytime I just ordered it.

After receiving this diary, I thought of creating and embedding this lovely quote over it in different aspect or manner. And then strikes an idea of creating an ancient look over the diary cover. 

Following products are used to create this beautiful Tome of Ancients:

A].  Expressions Craft: Immix Heavy Black Gesso, White chippes like Buddha, lantern with bird, Cogs wheel frame and metallic paints like mermaid song, ancient gold, gunmetal grey and bronze moon .

B]. Icraft: flower and stem stencil

C]. Itsy Bitsy Little Birdie: Cheese Cloth, Heat tool

D]. Oasis Bazaar: MDF steampunk chippies, crafting mat, glue gun 

E]. Craft Destination Centre: Metal embellistments, metal corners 

G]. Ranger: Texture Paste

F]. Finally a 2019 diary purchased from Flipkart

Lets Start with the pictorial procedure on How I made this Beautiful ancient tome.

Step 1: 

Step 2: Arrange chippies, metal embellisments, etc. everything loosely on the diary cover and it is suggested to take a picture of it for further reference.

Step 3: Keep aside all chippies and other embellisments and now apply Black heavy gesso (Immix) with brush on the diary cover base. And dry it with heat tool or hair dryer.

Step 4: Apply black heavy gesso on all chippies and embellistments. Mostly some crafters prefer applying gesso after pasting chippies or embellistments on the base, but I prefer applying gesso over chippies etc separately. And dry it with heat tool or hair dryer.

Step 5: Now with the help of stencil and texture paste make a random design over diary cover. After applying texture paste dry it with heat tool.

Step 6: Paste cheese cloth randomly. And after pasting cheese cloth apply one more layer of black gesso. And dry it with heat tool

 

Step 7: Paste all the chippies and embellistments over the diary referring to the image clicked before pasting. Also add few half pearls randomly. After pasting everything apply one more final coat of gesso. And then start coloring with mettalic paints (Immix)

Step 8: After applying metallic paints dry the same with heat tool and paste golden corner over two edges of diary. I started with mermaid blue and then bronze (all over chippies and embellishments. Then gun metal grey on the sides and a bit in background. And also pasted the motivational quote by giving it an embossed look with the help of glossy accent.

Step 9: Lastly applied ancient gold over the top with finger tips. And here is the final look of Tome of the Ancients.

Total 9 steps to be followed and create this amazing art of mixed media.
